Nisa has launched a £1 million price drop campaign to lower the wholesale selling price (WSP) of over 100 products.
The wholesale retailer said the price cuts include lowering the WSP on branded and own brand products by as much as 30 per cent until 22 January. The company has also lowered prices on around 50 snack and impulse products, with some lines reduced by around 20 percent.
The company added that there would be weekly deals on tobacco and vaping products.
At the end of last year, Nisa also lowered prices on around 100 products including beers, spirits and tobacco.
The move comes amidst a wave of price drops across the UK grocery market as inflation steadies, with Asda also announcing this week that it is launching a new Aldi and Lidl price match scheme.
Aldi also cut prices on 40 products in December after announcing it had spent £12 million on seasonal price cuts.
Ayaz Alam, director of wholesale at Nisa, said that the new year could be challenging for retailers and the price commitment would offer retailers certainty over prices.
“We invested in our pricing strategy a number of times last year and we wanted to further strengthen our pricing position and give our retailers a positive start into 2024,” he said. “Feedback has been at the heart of all our decision making and we know as a priority, the WSP of bread needed reviewing, so we’re proud to be able to lower these prices, along with other categories.”
